During my second year at MU, I took two classes, Audio / Visual I and II. In those classes, I learned how to edit and process video and audio to professional standards using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and some Adobe After Effects CS6. I was required to gather footage to work with, and edit it together into a video to be graded on editing continuity. I learned many things in this class sequence, from scripting, to shooting, to post-production. The most valuable piece of knowledge that I attained from this class series, however, was how to have the forethought and foresight required to shoot a professional-quality video.
Here are some of my projects from the class:
Midterm Project for Audio/Video II: Timelapses
The Purpose of this project was to explore a cinematic technique of our choosing. I chose the timelapse because I enjoy being able to see something that takes a long time be played very quickly. This project was chosen as the best of the videos shown that day, but not the best overall. This project received an A-.
Final Project for Audio/Video II: Expansion on Midterm
The purpose of this project was to either expand on the midterm or to explore a new technique like we did for the midterm project. My original plan was to expand on the idea of timelapses by doing a reverse timelapse, but I was dissatisfied. I then set out to gather new footage of disc golf and played it back in reverse. This accomplished what was required, and I received an A on the project.
Final Froject for Audio/Video I: Common Quagmires
The purpose of this project was to film and edit a full feature. There were no requirements set for the project. My group decided to do a silent feature conatining two episodes called Common Quagmires, which entailed a game night going very wrong, and a situation with noisy neighbors. This project received a B.
